Movember Is Here Again!

Movember or No-Shave November is not that well-known in Hungary yet, although it’s quite a popular annual event all over the world.

So what is Movember exactly? It’s a portmanteau of the words mustache and November that originates in Australia where a mustache is often just called “mo”. Yet, there is more behind the word movember than just a funny Aussie pun.

The Movember Movement

As you might have already guessed, you aren’t supposed to shave in Movember, though it’s not just a passing fancy, a whim, or something hipster, but a way of drawing attention to men’s health issues that we tend to not care about enough. Movember is mainly about prostate, testicular, and colon cancer as well as depression. The first charity events of the Movember Movement were held in Australia and New Zealand in 2004, but this new phenomenon started to become known in Hungary in 2009. In the past few years, the Movember Movement has operated as an officially registered organization.

The members of the Movemeber Movements are called Mo Bros, and they support men not to be afraid of regular check-ups, helping to diagnose and treat cancer in early stages. Real Mo Bros are men that don’t get scared of urology, they don’t feel ashamed about their depression, and do everything they can for their and their bros' health and happiness.

Are You a Mo Bro?

Movember is the coolest possible way to discuss serious issues as growing a mustache is the manliest and dopest thing to raise awareness with. So if it’s November and you think to yourself, wow, suddenly everybody seems to have become a hipster… it’s not you to blame. I mean, actually, it is if you don’t join them and turn a little more shaggy as well.

Of course, it must be strange to hear this from a barbershop, but if it’s for a good cause, not shaving for a month is totally cool. And who said you need to look disheveled if you grow a little mustache and beard? You are more than welcome to check in, and we will take care of your Movember looks or repair all the damage after the end of the month.
